Welcome to the Writer's Study, where writers can find inspiration and for words to flow on paper. Although small spaces are frequently underestimated, Studio Jai has elevated the Writer's Study by incorporating rich, saturated colors, beautiful textures, and enhancing functionality to bring it into the spotlight. We embodied the writer's thoughts and wanted to create a welcoming environment that is worldly and inspiring. 

Studio Jai maximized the versatility of this room by incorporating multiple hidden desks and a window bench with storage that can be used in many ways. The two hidden drawers can be used however one needs them to be – it can be an extra desk, a breakfast table, or just simply an extra surface to place extra books. The window bench allows for visitors as well as a calming spot to drink a cup of coffee, while basking in the sunlight!

We also wanted to visually expand the room - there were two ways we did this. We created built-ins that went all the way to the ceiling, but we chose to continue the same paint color on the ceiling. When you’re in the room, your peripheral view won’t create a visual sight line at the top of the bookshelves; it just continues into the ceiling paint.  We also decreased the depth on the side bookshelves to allow for more flow of space, but without sacrificing the extra desk space – i.e., hidden desks that expand out to the normal depth. 

We chose to use many women and family-owned businesses throughout our space, as we are just that – women-owned and a family business.
