KATIE WESTMORELAND

Katie Westmoreland is an artist based in New York City. She is interested in the way pictures form over time, how shadows change shape as leaves blow in the wind, and how we account for the experiential phenomena of such events. From studies of plants and flowers, particularly those in urban green spaces, and chance encounters with forms of dynamic light filtration, she creates murals, textiles, and a myriad of other artworks. She has created custom wall paintings for private residences (including a home featured on HGTV’s “Who’s Afraid of the Cheap Old House?”), the NYC DOT, and the Kingston Design Showhouse (in partnership with Studio Hinterland). Her paintings and artworks have been exhibited at Wave Hill, The Schuykill Center for Environmental Education, and Bes Millerton, among others.
