Step into the glamour of the Gilded Age to meet the bold, creative, and determined women who helped shape New York City—but whose stories have too often been overlooked. Discover the lives and legacies of women including Elizabeth Keckley, Ann Lowe, Lucy Burns, and Emily Warren Roebling, and explore their influence on Brooklyn and NYC. We’ll also revisit the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire and its lasting impact on labor rights and workplace safety.
Grab a drink, tour the showhouse and then settle in for a riveting discussion about our history. This interactive conversation is open to all ages. We’d love for you to bring the young women in your life to get inspired!

An Evening of Mahj with Marissa X Brooklyn Mahjong at The Designer Showhouse

The tables will be dressed with Brooklyn Mahjong (@bkmahjong), the Brooklyn-based brand pairing the legacy of Mahjong with beautifully designed, modern tiles and accessories. Cocktails and snacks will be served as you play, with prizes throughout the evening, all set against the newly transformed spaces of the Designer Showhouse.
