Inspirational Women of the Gilded Age
Step into the glamour of the Gilded Age to meet the bold, creative, and determined women who helped shape New York City—but whose stories have too often been overlooked. Discover the lives and legacies of women including Elizabeth Keckley, Ann Lowe, Lucy Burns, and Emily Warren Roebling, and explore their influence on Brooklyn and NYC. We’ll also revisit the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire and its lasting impact on labor rights and workplace safety.
Grab a drink, tour the showhouse and then settle in for a riveting discussion about our history. This interactive conversation is open to all ages. We’d love for you to bring the young women in your life to get inspired!
Led by Terese Brown, CEO of Terese Sydonna, and Jillian Gaeta, Co-Founder of Roots to Revolution, both born and raised in New York City.

An Evening of Mahj with Marissa X Brooklyn Mahjong at The Designer Showhouse
Join Mahj with Marissa for an evening of American Mahjong and raffle prizes at the Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse. New York-based instructor Marissa Broman brings her approachable teaching style to the table for a relaxed open play session designed for players looking to sharpen their skills, connect with neighborhood players, and enjoy a little friendly competition. This event is great for people of all levels, as long as mahjong lessons have been taken.
The tables will be dressed with Brooklyn Mahjong (@bkmahjong), the Brooklyn-based brand pairing the legacy of Mahjong with beautifully designed, modern tiles and accessories. Cocktails and snacks will be served as you play, with prizes throughout the evening, all set against the newly transformed spaces of the Designer Showhouse.
